Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks re-sign D Andrey Pedan to one-year, two-way contract The Vancouver Canucks have been bleeding defensemen during this offseason but on Wednesday they re-inked big Russian Andrey Pedan to a one-year, two-way contract.

Im not a huge fan of Pedan, his callups to the NHL weren't very good. That being said, he's committed to the organization for several years, has been perfectly okay earning his NHL spot, so certainly a better option for the Canucks than the Diva Fatty we replaced him for.

What kind of character does it take to sign a weird contract to get over, not keep yourself in any shape (in fact he got fatter) and refused to actually learn his craft down in the minors for a few weeks.

I personally hope JB clings on to his rights as long as possible, just to ensure he never leaves Russia again.

WD played him as a forward half the time because he refused to change his top 6. Green likes him... we may see a different Pedan.

I like Pedan as a depth D and his size and meanness is needed. I do remember a few games where he was very good in his role and skates surprisingly well for a big man. It is what it is. Not going to tighten the D up much or offer offence.

The best part of his game is his skating. That what I look for most in a player.

I think that pressure from WD got in his head, there were games where he looked nervous and puck control was not good. I do hope that his familiarity with Green will relax him and be more confident heading into camp

Calm down. He was only asking if his sister was single.

Dahlen is quite a bit thicker than I wouldve guessed. Arms look like they are about the same size as Loui's... #Curlz4DaGurlz

I really want Benning to acquire another 1st round pick in the back half of the 1st round so he can take LW Ratcliffe. He would be a great addition to our middle 6(3rd line mostly) with RW JV. Those two would make a great physical line who should score depending on who is in the middle. Lots of size... lots of snarl... lots of entertainment.

He, like JV down the road could find himself in a top 6 role with the right chemistry or in a role where meanness is needed with a couple of smaller scorers.

We need some forward size.

Thanks Carol.

Hope Pedan works out this season. His style of play may add some much needed entertainment value for next season.

Do you think you could find us a defenseman or 2 while you are at World championship, I think it would be appreciated.
thanks

I'll keep my eyes open!

I believe Jim Benning's coming to scout as well, though I'm not sure if he's planning to hit up Cologne, Paris or both.

When I look at the forward lineup for next year I can't help but think Boeser and JV will likely be competing for the same spot. As much as I like Boeser I kind of hope JV has it in him to take that spot

If you bump into him can you give him some pointers.

Kidding aside, I look forward to reading your reports on the World championship.

I am pretty sure we could get Ratcliffe at 33rd...decent chance anyways as he has fallen. Other than that, I like your plan

He hasn't really fallen at all and moved up after the prospects game where he was one of the better players. Comtois who seems similar did though... he would probably be available at 33.

He was 28th in the consolidated March 31st rankings....and falling since then as far as I can tell. what ranking are you using? Either way, I am all for adding some size up front. BPA in round 1 and address some needs later on.

By who?

http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=300398

All these sites have him in the first round anywhere from 13 to 30. Most have him in 20 to 30.
